OWOH Winners!!

I have counted and counted until my little mind is swimming with comments and numbers! What a huge success this year's One World One Heart event has been.

Thank you all so very much for leaving such sweet comments for Ruth and me. We truly appreciate your support and kindness. I'm only sorry I couldn't reply to every one. The volume was so high that I just couldn't keep up. But each one has been read and appreciated.

Now...On to the Winners!

The gorgeous bracelet made by Ruth Rae will be going to the wrist of Cowgirltazz, aka Julie of Mooncat Farms.

And, low and behold, the amazingly talented Scottish treasure, Judy Scott, is the lucky winner of my Lucky You necklace!

In all the give-aways I've had I don't think I've ever actually drawn the name of someone I know. While I've never met Judy in person, she did make some phenomenal pieces that were included in A Charming Exchange. So I am especially excited and thrilled to be able to send this necklace to Judy.

Congratulations, Julie and Judy! We so hope you enjoy your new jewelry. And thank you to everyone for your hundreds and hundreds of encouraging comments!

That concludes the One World One Heart event winner posting. But, the super cool thing about OWOH is that it keeps on going. Now is the time to visit and linger over all the 911 blogs which were entered in this joyous gypsy caravan happening. I hope you all will come around again and get to know us and our work. Soon, very soon, we will be auctioning off many of the pieces from our book to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. So please stay tuned as we have news about that in the near future.

And, if you haven't gotten a copy of the book yet, Please Do! We want to inspire you!

One World One Heart

Work is love made visible. —Kahlil Gibran

COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED. THE WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED TOMORROW. THANK YOU FOR PLAYING!!

Ruth and I are very happy to share the love and participate in the One World One Heart event this year with our blog for A Charming Exchange. This event is a wonderful way for artists around the world to meet one another, find inspiration, and gain new friendships. And that is also what we talk about in A Charming Exchange. Our book focuses on collaboration between artists to boost creativity, learn new jewelry construction techniques, and gain inspiration. If you haven't picked up a copy yet, please do!

And what better way to celebrate the OWOH event than to offer you a chance to win a piece of jewelry made by Ruth or a piece of jewelry made by me, Kelly. We will draw two names. One will win Ruth's piece and one will win my piece. Here are the pretty prizes:

Of The Earth
a bracelet by Ruth Rae

Ruth has created a copper etched heart which hangs on a silver wrapped bracelet. The stones are turquoise, petrified walrus tusk, yellow topaz, faceted smokey topaz, sponge coral, Peruvian opal, brown chert, and faceted garnet. I'm only sorry I can't leave a comment to win this one myself! It's beautiful, Ruth!

Lucky You
a found object necklace
by Kelly Snelling

This piece started out with a large tin box that I've had for a few years now. It had the words Lucky You on it. And as I was thinking about a prize for this post it shouted pick me, pick me! So I did. It also has turquoise, bone, chrysacolla, and an old lock plate.

It's a fun, funky piece that you, too, can learn to make when you pick up A Charming Exchange (hee. have i promoted the book enough yet? :0)

In order to be eligible for these prizes, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. One comment per person, please. And, please do not put advertisements in your comment or it will be deleted.

When posting, be sure to include your email address on the form or in the body of your comment. If you are the winner but we can't contact you, then someone else's name will be drawn and the prize goes to that person.

The contest ends on February 11th at 9:00 p.m. Pacific time. All comments will be closed at that time. The winners will be announced on February 12th.

Also, if you are going to be attending CHA in Anaheim next week, please stop by the F&W Publishing book on Sunday, the 25th. Ruth and I will be signing copies of the book and we would love to meet you!

Lastly, thank you, thank you to Lisa Oceandreamer Swifka for hosting this fantastic event!

“We all have our own life to pursue, Our own kind of dream to be weaving... And we all have the power To make wishes come true, As long as we keep believing.”
Louisa May Alcott

Hello! Ruth Here !
In the Nov/Dec issue of Belle Armoire you will discover an article that I wrote for the back page.
In it I compare life to the interwoven textures and layers of a basket….

"Caged Desire"

As I have traveled my life’s journey down an artistic path as a fiber artist and jewelry designer, I look back at all the people and experiences that have influenced me, weaving my being and shaping my soul.

"A Walk By The Sea"

~Helen Keller put it best:

Life is either a great adventure or nothing.

If you want to create your own basket to fill with your treasures you can find the entire step out details along with 25 jewelry projects in our book “A Charming Exchange”.

Kelly and I will be working on the details for a few pieces from the book to go up for auction as well as a youtube vidio with us

A New Review

Tammy Powley at About.com Jewelry Making has written a glowing review of A Charming Exchange. It is very cool to see that happen. I don't know Tammy personally but I do read her column. About.com is a great resource for jewelry artists. In addition to book reviews, there are many interesting tutorials and articles that will be of interest to artists. If you get a chance, check it out.

A Charming Exchange is also making an appearance at The Ice House, the art guild of Mayfield, Kentucky, the home town of my youth. For the month of August, the exhibition features art created from people in the community. A Charming Exchange is part of the show. If you are in the area, be sure to stop in. The Ice House is a beautiful place full of inspiration and much talent.

We're number one

So I admit that I was a cheerleader in high school. Don't worry though, I will not be pulling out any photos of me with my 80s feathered bangs and skinny legs. But I did have to shout the old cheer about being number today.

Ruth is currently at the offices of our lovely publishers working on her second book, which will showcase her soulfully beautiful fabric art. And today she had lunch with the awesome members of the F&W Sales Team. They told her that A Charming Exchange is the top selling jewelry book at Barnes and Noble! I am giddy with glee! They said the book is very well-received and is finding its way to prominent positions in the stores. Yay! It just makes me twirl and clap my hands (oh my. too many cheer leading references for one post!).

Thank you all for hollering about the book. Your kind words and posts surely have helped to propel it to these lofty heights. It has been a lot of hard work pulling it together but there is no greater reward than to know that folks are enjoying it. That just makes us so very excited. It feels darn good!
